Malta DeepWreck Week

A week built around Malta's deep wrecks and long run times. Normoxic or hypoxic, open circuit or CCR, with the shot checked before you drop and a support team on hand for every dive.

The Week

This is the trip I love running most: a week on Malta's deep wrecks, one long dive a day, and nothing rushed. You bring your certification and your wreck list, and we build the week around them, from the first shot to the last deco stop.

Come as a team, the way Team Barracuda did from Belgium, or come on your own and dive as part of ours. If you're bringing a club, Dive Systems' own boat takes up to 10 divers, and group packages cover the land side too.

Long run times, properly supported

Long run times are what we love doing. Team Barracuda's week included 180 minutes on Le Polynesien and on HMS Southwold's stern, and 150 on HMS Stubborn and HMS Nasturtium. Dives like that only work when everything around them is right, so this is what's around every one:

Normoxic or hypoxic?

Which week you do depends on your certification and the wrecks on your list.

A normoxic week stays on trimix you could breathe at the surface and opens the wrecks to around 60m, with shallower wrecks for the warm-up days.

Normoxic · to around 60m

A hypoxic week goes deeper, on mixes too lean in oxygen to breathe at the surface, and opens the wrecks beyond that.

Hypoxic · 60m and beyond

On a rebreather, the same split applies to your diluent. Tell me your unit and your certification and I'll tell you which wrecks fit. Several of the deeper wrecks are managed by Heritage Malta and need a permit; I'll go through what's needed when we plan the week. Every wreck above has its own dive-site page with its history, depth and condition.

See one in action

In October 2026, Team Barracuda from Belgium spent a normoxic week with us on HMS Stubborn, Le Polynesien, HMS Southwold's stern, HMS Nasturtium and HMS Hellespont, plus half an hour on the Bristol Beaufighter for a group photo. Conditions were perfect all week, I was on my XCCR throughout, and Arthur took some incredible photos.
