CCR CourseMalta

Thinking about going closed-circuit? Malta is one of the best places in the world to do it — warm, clear water, deep wrecks that reward the bottom time, and between us at Dive Systems, every major unit on the market covered. Here's the honest version of how to get started.

The Honest Version

I'm a CCR diver and instructor myself, and I love this side of the sport — the silence, the bottom time, the way a wreck behaves differently when you're not exhaling into it. But I'll be straight with you rather than dress this page up as something it isn't: right now, I guide certified CCR divers, but I don't personally run certification courses.

My own CCR journey is headed toward XCCR Instructor next — that's the road I'm on, and I'm not there yet. Rather than quietly sit on a course page pretending otherwise, I'd rather send you to the people who can actually get you certified today, on whichever unit you're on.

Every Major Unit, Covered

This is the bit that actually matters to you: between the instructors at Dive Systems, pretty much every CCR unit on the market is covered — old and new. Here's the current line-up:

Whatever you're on, or thinking about buying, there's a strong chance someone at Dive Systems already teaches it.

Why Malta for CCR Training

Warm, clear water year-round makes Malta a genuinely excellent classroom — you can actually see what you and your instructor are doing at every stage, which matters enormously when you're learning to trust a rebreather. Dive Systems runs one of Malta's most capable fill stations (air, nitrox, trimix and helium diluents), keeps Sofnolime in stock, and has rental units available if you're not travelling with your own.

Once You're Certified

Get qualified, then come dive Malta's wrecks with me. I run CCR Guided Dives for certified rebreather divers on any unit — one relaxed dive a day, a fresh scrubber every morning, and as long in the water as you like. Malta's deep wrecks are exactly what CCR was built for.
