The Site

This wreck is a Supermarine Spitfire Mk V, the iconic British fighter of the Second World War, lost during Operation Husky — the Allied invasion of Sicily (10 July-17 August 1943). She rests upright on sand west of Gozo at about 70m, in remarkably preserved condition, firmly in technical-diving territory and reachable only by boat. A beautiful, historically resonant aircraft wreck and a milestone dive for any aviation enthusiast with the qualifications to reach it.
