One of the dive sites we run here in Malta — here's the story behind it, the depth and access, and what it takes to dive it properly.
Off the southern tip of Comino, Lantern Point is a cracking dive. You start in a chimney — a vertical shaft in the rock that drops you from a few metres down to around 18m — before it opens out onto a boulder-strewn drop-off tumbling past 40m.
There's often a bit of current here, which is exactly why it pulls in the bigger fish: expect barracuda, amberjack and shoals hanging out in the blue. Dramatic topography, proper Mediterranean life, and a dive that works for both recreational and technical divers depending on how deep you take it.
